(10/05 13:05:15) skyisblu: I found the cavern in March 2021, after rediscovering the Myst games, when I had entirely too much free time on my hands.

(10/05 13:05:30) skyisblu: My first encounter with the community happened when I linked in to the Ferry Terminal, and discovered other people! They invited my to come “sit on the rail” of the Great Stairs with them.

(10/05 13:06:49) skyisblu: I think we can all agree that, here in the cavern, we all love food, and talking about food, so with my background in cooking, it just seemed like a natural progression to me to host a cooking stream. I also wanted to give back to this community that has given me so much in return.

(10/05 13:07:10) skyisblu: Originally, I just wanted to share recipes with all my friends, and the concept grew from there.

(10/05 13:07:26) skyisblu: And I have to give credit to IwonK, who really got the ball rolling with her Wonky drawing streams. That inspired me to give streaming a go myself.

(10/05 13:07:41) skyisblu: I’ve now been hosting the cooking stream for over 2 years, sharing 24 recipes, 24 streams, and one very delicious-looking website.

(10/05 13:07:59) skyisblu: Each month, I choose a recipe, usually something in theme with the season and what is growing in my garden, but I sometimes use events in the cavern as my inspiration, too.

(10/05 13:08:18) skyisblu: I cook my recipe at least once before the live stream, to be able to test the quantities, cooking times, or changes that I might make to the process.

(10/05 13:08:43) skyisblu: I also test out the feasibility of the recipe in one hour, see if I need to make a second batch to speed things up, like baking a cake to show the final product.

(10/05 13:08:57) skyisblu: I take photos of the entire process – these then get edited and used for my stream ads and my recipe blog, which I write up and translate into French in the days preceding the stream.

(10/05 13:09:14) skyisblu: The day of, I set up my kitchen “studio” – cameras, lights, laptops – I prep my ingredients and select my dishware, and psyche myself up to go live.

(10/05 13:09:33) skyisblu: Even though I am all alone in my kitchen, I still get stage fright every time I click the “stream” button, and it’s the reassuring greetings of my friends that get me over that initial hurdle.

(10/05 13:09:49) skyisblu: And then I remember why I am doing it, and have a blast talking about all things food with everyone.

(10/05 13:10:08) skyisblu: I love the cooking , and the sharing, but the conversations that are the result of my streams are some of my favorite.

(10/05 13:24:39) Claidi Song: Babbel: There is music in MOULa, but not much classical music. I missed that and maybe others with me. That’s how I started. Then came the question if I wanted to make a habit of it. Now, it is a monthly event.

(10/05 13:25:16) Claidi Song: Babbel: I listen to music a lot. I make various possible programs but only in the last week is it really there and I finish it. The themes depend on things around me, or the times of the year.

(10/05 13:25:34) Claidi Song: Babbel: I look for the information in my books, “Music Under Words” or “XYZ of Music” and also on the Internet. Many MOULa people have helped me and still do. Especially with the technical aspects I had to learn here.

(10/05 13:08:57) skyisblu: I take photos of the entire process – these then get edited and used for my stream ads and my recipe blog, which I write up and translate into French in the days preceding the stream.
(10/05 13:09:14) skyisblu: The day of, I set up my kitchen "studio" – cameras, lights, laptops – I prep my ingredients and select my dishware, and psyche myself up to go live.
(10/05 13:09:33) skyisblu: Even though I am all alone in my kitchen, I still get stage fright every time I click the "stream" button, and it's the reassuring greetings of my friends that get me over that initial hurdle.

(09/07 13:50:33) Ereshkigal: I had heard of Uru, but for fourteen years I thought it had failed from the start and did not exist. Then in 2022 I bought a Myst collection on Steam that included Uru CC, and decided to check it out to see what could have been.

(09/07 13:50:41) Ereshkigal: It was beautiful, and so I started looking for blogs to see if people had written about it. I expected to find only old wordpress pages from the 2010s or earlier, but to my surprise I found a blog run by Calum that had timestamps up to the present day!

(09/07 13:50:51) Ereshkigal: I read all the posts and many of them mentioned projects Calum was working on with other Ages, and he sounded like he needed help. There were also chatlogs of community events with lots of people, including the release of Chiso! So I made an account to see what was going on, and if I could get involved with the community.

(09/07 13:51:51) Ereshkigal: I started Ancient Stories in early 2024. My inspiration was that I love archaeology, and have lived and worked near a lot of Roman remains, including an old burial hill where treasure was once found, and a remaining stretch of the Roman garrison road that once ran alongside the Rhine at the Empire’s northern frontier.

(09/07 13:52:14) Ereshkigal: D’ni was an ancient civilization that had a sizable Empire of its own, yet in the games and novels I saw very little of it. Mostly we get to see Ae’gura, and we hear a little about the changes and divisions within D’ni society rather than see them for ourselves. My purpose with Ancient Stories was to give a sense of how alien, yet familiar, the distant past can be, in the same way D’ni is alien yet familiar.

(09/07 13:52:51) Ereshkigal: Ancient Stories is every Tuesday at 11.30 KI, and can be reached by bot. I change locations when I start a new story: I was in the magical garden of Kalamee for my reading of Gilgamesh, at the lotus pond on Fahets Highgarden for my reading of the Ramayana, and now I am at the fountain in Eder Bahvahnter for my reading of Mary Renault’s Persian Boy.

(09/07 13:53:35) Ereshkigal: I have sections marked out in my text that I will read, and usually some message that these chapters convey. Persian Boy and Gilgamesh are easier, since there I read from only one text; for the Ramayana I found a lot of parallels to other texts, and so read from multiple sources, one of which I wrote myself. That required extensive reading notes, which I had open next to my Moula window at every session.

(09/07 13:54:20) Ereshkigal: We continue the story of Bagoas and Alexander on their way to India! I will be travelling to India myself on Sept 27th; then there will probably be a three-week hiatus for Ancient Stories, since the 12-hour difference between that timezone and New Mexico would make it a bit impractical. (09/07 13:50:33) Ereshkigal: I had heard of Uru, but for fourteen years I thought it had failed from the start and did not exist. Then in 2022 I bought a Myst collection on Steam that included Uru CC, and decided to check it out to see what could have been.
(09/07 13:50:41) Ereshkigal: It was beautiful, and so I started looking for blogs to see if people had written about it. I expected to find only old wordpress pages from the 2010s or earlier, but to my surprise I found a blog run by Calum that had timestamps up to the present day!
(09/07 13:50:51) Ereshkigal: I read all the posts and many of them mentioned projects Calum was working on with other Ages, and he sounded like he needed help. There were also chatlogs of community events with lots of people, including the release of Chiso! So I made an account to see what was going on, and if I could get involved with the community.

(09/07 13:51:51) Ereshkigal: I started Ancient Stories in early 2024. My inspiration was that I love archaeology, and have lived and worked near a lot of Roman remains, including an old burial hill where treasure was once found, and a remaining stretch of the Roman garrison road that once ran alongside the Rhine at the Empire's northern frontier.
(09/07 13:52:14) Ereshkigal: D'ni was an ancient civilization that had a sizable Empire of its own, yet in the games and novels I saw very little of it. Mostly we get to see Ae'gura, and we hear a little about the changes and divisions within D'ni society rather than see them for ourselves. My purpose with Ancient Stories was to give a sense of how alien, yet familiar, the distant past can be, in the same way D'ni is alien yet familiar.

(09/07 13:52:51) Ereshkigal: Ancient Stories is every Tuesday at 11.30 KI, and can be reached by bot. I change locations when I start a new story: I was in the magical garden of Kalamee for my reading of Gilgamesh, at the lotus pond on Fahets Highgarden for my reading of the Ramayana, and now I am at the fountain in Eder Bahvahnter for my reading of Mary Renault's Persian Boy.

(09/07 13:53:35) Ereshkigal: I have sections marked out in my text that I will read, and usually some message that these chapters convey. Persian Boy and Gilgamesh are easier, since there I read from only one text; for the Ramayana I found a lot of parallels to other texts, and so read from multiple sources, one of which I wrote myself. That required extensive reading notes, which I had open next to my Moula window at every session.

I will be travelling to India myself on Sept 27th; then there will probably be a three-week hiatus for Ancient Stories, since the 12-hour difference between that timezone and New Mexico would make it a bit impractical. And no one got lost! Success!

(08/03 13:43:25) Dah’mpa: This Wall Game competition will run in the same way as we did in the last Wall Game event during the MOULa Anniversary

(08/03 13:43:49) Dah’mpa: The main point is: in each wall game both players will face the same maze, created and input by the organizers

(08/03 13:44:02) Dah’mpa: Therefore, players will just climb the wall, leaving the Control Panel setup to the organizers

(08/03 13:44:14) Dah’mpa: In this simplified wall game format, new players will only have to learn a few simple rules and instructions (given at the beginning of the event), thus being able to play a wall game competition even with zero experience

I think one of my favorite memories will always be from Sunday afternoon, after the official closing of Mysterium, when I found myself becoming the impromptu guide of a group of 25, all of us making our way through the tunnels of the Underground City, between Metro stations, on our way to the Olympic Stadium and the Biodome. And no one got lost! Success!

(08/03 13:18:04) Calum Traveler: There's so much I want to say, but I'd be here all afternoon if I talked about it all, so I think I'll summarize it to this key point:
(08/03 13:18:13) Calum Traveler: Mysterium is one of those physical things that exemplifies the thing I love the most about our D'niverse: It's community, and the love and bonds between everyone we know.

(08/03 13:43:49) Dah'mpa: The main point is: in each wall game both players will face the same maze, created and input by the organizers
(08/03 13:44:02) Dah'mpa: Therefore, players will just climb the wall, leaving the Control Panel setup to the organizers
(08/03 13:44:14) Dah'mpa: In this simplified wall game format, new players will only have to learn a few simple rules and instructions (given at the beginning of the event), thus being able to play a wall game competition even with zero experience
