Speculative fiction is, per the Oxford dictionary, a genre of fiction that encompasses works in which the setting is other than the real world, involving supernatural, futuristic, or other imagined elements. It includes traditional science fiction and fantasy, but expands further to also encompass alternative history, horror, superhero, steampunk, dystopia, and so much more.

(02/01 13:42:51) Augur: e’ll be meeting in Eder Delin (neighborhood tba), the third Saturday of every other month, starting March 15th, at 12:30 KI time. There’s a little overlap there with the latter part of karaoke, but with most time slots booked there’s very little temporal real estate left in the cavern! I appreciate everyone who assisted in walking me through what is happening when to determine the best option to not step on too many toes right off the bat.

(02/01 13:43:50) Augur: I certainly don’t want to be the sole decider of what we’ll be reading, so after each meeting, I’ll propose three novels for folks to vote on. These will be available to vote on (using reactions) in both Minasunda’s MOULa Events Discord and Isa’s URU Community Movies and Games Discord. There will be brief blurbs for each provided there as well.

(02/01 13:44:12) Augur: I’d ask that everyone only vote in one of the two places, for fairness’ sake. But! Please do vote for ALL books you are interested in, not just your favorite of the three. If you’re interested in all three, vote for them all!

(02/01 13:44:36) Augur: I’ll be making an effort to not duplicate “niches” between bi-months. If sword-and-sorcery is selected for one month, none of the three options the next will be sword-and-sorcery, to prevent us from falling into a more specific niche than “speculative fiction”.
